ब्रिटिश एकेडमी फिल्म अवॉर्ड्स (बाफ्टा) में रविवार को जर्मन फिल्म ‘ऑल क्वाइट ऑन द वेस्टर्न फ्रंट’ ने सर्वश्रेष्ठ फिल्म और सर्वश्रेष्ठ निर्देशक समेत सात पुरस्कार अपने नाम किये। आयरिश फिल्म ‘द बन्शीस ऑफ इनिशेरिन’ ने बाफ्टा में चार पुरस्कार जीते हैं। इस पुरस्कार को ब्रिटेन के लिए हॉलीवुड के एकेडमी पुरस्कारों के समकक्ष माना जाता है।
लंदन के रॉयल फेस्टिवल हॉल में आयोजित पुरस्कार समारोह के प्रस्तोता रिचर्ड ई ग्रांट थे। एडवर्ड बर्गर द्वारा निर्देशित और 1929 के इसी नाम के उपन्यास पर आधारित ‘ऑल क्वाइट ऑन द वेस्टर्न फ्रंट’ के नाम बाफ्टा में कुल 14 नामांकन थे। पुरस्कार समारोह में सर्वश्रेष्ठ अभिनेता का बाफ्टा पुरस्कार ‘एल्विस’ फिल्म के लिए ऑस्टिन बटलर को दिया गया, वहीं ‘टार’ के लिए केट ब्लैंचेट को सर्वश्रेष्ठ अभिनेत्री का खिताब मिला है। गैर-अंग्रेजी की सर्वश्रेष्ठ फिल्म भी ‘‘ऑल क्वाइट ऑन द वेस्टर्न फ्रंट’ ही रही।
जलवायु परिवर्तन पर आधारित भारतीय वृत्तचित्र ‘ऑल दैट ब्रीथ्स’ रविवार को 2023 बाफ्टा फिल्म पुरस्कार में चूक गई। ‘नवलनी’ ने सर्वश्रेष्ठ वृत्तचित्र का पुरस्कार अपने नाम किया। डेनियल रोहर द्वारा निर्देशित ‘नवलनी’ 2020 में रूस के विपक्षी दल के नेता एलेक्सी नवलनी की हत्या के प्रयास की घटना पर आधारित है जिन्हें ‘नर्व एजेंट’ (रासायनिक जहर) दिया गया था।
सर्वश्रेष्ठ लघुफिल्म फीचर वर्ग में नामांकित अन्य फिल्मों में ‘ऑल द ब्यूटी एंड द ब्लडशेड’, ‘फायर ऑफ लव’ और ‘ए हाउस मेड ऑफ स्प्लिंटर्स’ शामिल थीं। शौनक सेन द्वारा निर्देशित ‘ऑल दैट ब्रीथ्स’ लघुफिल्म पुरस्कार के वर्ग में दावेदारों में से एक थी। फिल्म अकादमी पुरस्कारों के लिए भी नामांकित हुई है। दिल्ली की पृष्ठभूमि पर आधारित वृत्तचित्र दो भाइयों मोहम्मद सऊद और नदीम शहजाद की कहानी कहती है, जो घायल पक्षियों विशेष रूप से काली चीलों को बचाने और उनका इलाज करने के लिए अपना जीवन समर्पित कर देते हैं।
